Make a Digital Marketing Portfolio with Me

A step-by-step guide on how to craft your first marketing portfolio using Wix.

In this week’s post, I wanted to dive a little deeper into the actual creation of a portfolio. It is one thing to talk about best practices or what you must include, but actually putting it together is something else entirely. I personally learn best when following along to visual guides and seeing what themes, options and processes are available. While I still plan on releasing long form blog entries that dive deeper into detail on marketing subjects, I want to produce some content that helps out my audience of visual learners. This is where my newly formed YouTube channel comes into play. I plan to upload videos based on visualizing the content of my blog posts, while simultaneously taking my viewers on the journey of becoming a better digital marketer.

My first upload is called ‘Make a Marketing Portfolio With Me’. This step-by-step guide shows how to utilize the free blog and website creator Wix.com to design and launch your first marketing portfolio. I chose Wix (as previously mentioned in my ‘How to Create a Marketing Portfolio and Land Your First Job in Digital Marketing’ found here) because, although it does not have unlimited features that some of the other popular platforms do, it has A LOT that will cost us nothing to use. While you can still pay for a domain name that might make the portfolio seem more legitimate, the free URL they provide is enough for an aspiring digital marketer creating their first portfolio to showcase their projects. The video walks you through everything that you will need to sign up for an account, choose a template that speaks to you, create, edit and customize the portfolio to your liking, and then finally publish it with a live URL that can be viewed by anyone. What I really like about creating a portfolio with Wix is the ability to have multiple pages that link to your resume, an about section, and each one of your projects. This allows the viewer to go into further detail if they are interested. In under 15 minutes, you can have your portfolio set up and ready to personalize by following my video linked below.
